We are proud to announce that we have achieved an Autism Accreditation Specialist Award from The National Autistic Society.
In order to achieve this accreditation, schools undergo a rigorous assessment involving self-evaluations, evidence reviews, accreditor visits and observations and feedback from staff, pupils and parents.
It is an internationally recognised quality standard for schools, confirming we provide excellent, autism-specific education, support, and environments. It signifies a commitment to high standards in communication, social interaction, sensory experiences, and emotional wellbeing, resulting in improved, tailored support for autistic pupils.
The report praised our abilities, such as:
· Demonstrating a strong commitment to understanding and supporting each autistic pupil’s communication and social interaction needs. Personal preferences, strengths and skills are routinely recorded to ensure that support is tailored to the individual.
· Bespoke strategies and visual supports are widely used by staff to reinforce spoken communication.
· Personal documentation is gathered from families, Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and the school’s assessment systems, ensuring a collaborative approach.
· Peer interaction is well-supported, with lunchtime providing a particularly positive social experience.
Thank you to Miss Thompson, who led the accreditation,
This accreditation is a proud recognition of our school community’s commitment to creating an inclusive setting.
