From September 2026, Acre View Primary School will begin an exciting journey towards becoming a Thrive School. This whole-school approach will strengthen our commitment to supporting every child’s social, emotional and mental wellbeing, ensuring that they feel safe, valued and ready to learn. The school development plan sets out the goal of embedding the Thrive Approach across the whole school to improve emotional wellbeing, behaviour for learning and engagement.
What is Thrive?
Thrive is a research-informed approach that helps children develop the social and emotional skills they need to learn successfully. It focusses on building positive relationships, understanding behaviour as communication and supporting children to develop emotional resilience, confidence and self-regulation.
How will Thrive benefit our pupils?
By adopting the Thrive Approach, we aim to:
At Acre View, we recognise that many of our pupils require additional support with communication, emotional regulation and social interaction. Thrive will provide a consistent framework across the school so that every child receives the nurture and support they need to flourish. This aligns closely with our vision of creating a caring community where emotional support is enabled through kind and caring staff.
We are proud to have two Thrive Practitioners at Acre View, Ms Jones and Mrs Clarke who will lead targeted Thrive sessions, support staff and work closely with pupils and families. Alongside whole-school training for all staff, this will ensure that Thrive principles become part of everyday life at Acre View, helping every child to soar to success both academically and emotionally. The school has identified two Thrive Practitioners as part of its implementation plans and Thrive Journey.
