At Acre View Primary School, we expect and encourage good behaviour and self-regulation from all pupils in order to create an environment that enables emotional development, effective learning and high standards. Our approach is restorative and relationship-based, using a wide range of methods and strategies to maintain positive interactions between pupils and staff. We achieve this through visible consistency, our school values, and our three simplified core rules:
Rewards are given a much higher priority than sanctions, and this is reflected in the systems of praise and recognition used throughout school. Achievement is celebrated in every classroom, effort is valued, and our school values are recognised weekly during our Celebration Assembly every Friday morning.
On rare occasions, a child may need to be moved to a safer area to prevent harm and allow them time and space to calm and regulate their behaviour. Any intervention is carried out with the minimum necessary force, for the shortest amount of time, and the child is continuously monitored to ensure their safety and wellbeing. All incidents are recorded in line with statutory requirements.
From 1 April, following updated national guidance, parents and carers will be informed in writing of any incident involving Restricted Physical Intervention. This written notification will be sent via Class Dojo on the same day wherever possible, and always within 24 hours.
This ensures that communication between school and home remains transparent, timely and supportive, allowing us to work together in the best interests of each child.
