Kingfisher Class follows a semi-formal curriculum pathway for pupils who are developing their communication skills and are either verbal or beginning to use spoken language more confidently. The class provides a structured and supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to build their communication, learning and independence skills.
Learning is personalised and engaging, combining practical experiences with targeted teaching to help pupils develop literacy, numeracy, social understanding and problem-solving skills. Communication is at the heart of everything we do, with staff supporting pupils to express their thoughts, needs and ideas through speech, visuals, Makaton and other communication strategies as appropriate.
Pupils are encouraged to develop confidence, resilience and independence whilst building meaningful relationships with their peers and adults. Kingfisher Class celebrates every success, helping pupils to become enthusiastic learners who are prepared for the next stage of their education and wider life experiences.
