Welcome to the Governors’ page of the Acre View School website.

The role of a school governor is often misunderstood. We do not manage the daily operations of the school—that is the responsibility of the Headteacher and senior management team. Instead, we oversee the school's development, with our main aim being to ensure a high standard of education for all pupils, regardless of their abilities.

The Governing Body focusses on three core responsibilities:

• Ensuring that our school has a clear vision, ethos, and strategic direction.
• Holding the Headteacher accountable for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, as well as for the performance management of staff.
• Overseeing the school’s financial performance to ensure value for money and adherence to budget.

In addition, we act as a ‘critical friend’ to the school. We are responsible for the Headteacher’s performance, developing, maintaining, and reviewing school policies, and ensuring the school meets its statutory obligations.

We meet as a whole governing body at least once a term, and each Governor has specific areas of responsibility.

The Acre View Primary School Governing Body is constituted with 8 members:

We believe this team is well-suited to serve Acre View Primary School effectively. Each member brings unique skills and perspectives and is committed to upholding individual responsibilities, which often include additional visits to the school. All members contribute to discussions, with each having one vote. Decisions made through this process are the collective responsibility of the governing body.

Your Governing Body is made up of local community members who freely volunteer their time to support Acre View School in its commitment to providing an excellent education for our children. We believe every child matters and are proud to be part of this school and the community.
