Music Mark Recognition at Our School
Lead Mr P. Forbes
We are delighted to share that in May 2025, our school was formally awarded the Music Mark, a prestigious acknowledgement celebrating our commitment to delivering high quality, inclusive, and engaging music education for all pupils. This recognition highlights the dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our children, and the strong partnerships we have developed with our local music community.
What Is Music Mark?
Music Mark is the UK’s national association for music education, dedicated to championing and supporting access to music for all children and young people. It connects and supports educators, music services, and schools to enrich musical learning, while also advocating nationally for inclusive and high quality music education.
About the Music Mark of Recognition
The Music Mark is awarded to schools that demonstrate:
- A strong commitment to advocating for the value of music in the curriculum and wider school life.
- A promise to provide equitable, diverse, and inclusive musical experiences for all pupils.
- A willingness to broaden musical horizons by working with community partners, music hubs, and external providers.
Schools may receive one of two certificates:
- Dedication & Improvement
- Ambition & Quality
These certificates acknowledge schools at different stages of their musical development but united by a shared commitment to enriching pupils’ musical lives.
Why Receiving the Music Mark Matters
Achieving the Music Mark provides a range of meaningful benefits that directly enhance our pupils’ learning experiences:

Our school now benefits from a library of free curriculum resources, planning materials, and advocacy tools that help strengthen and enrich our music offer. - Training and Professional Development
Staff can attend free online training sessions, events, and professional development opportunities, enabling us to continuously improve our practice and ensure music teaching remains inspiring, inclusive, and responsive to pupils’ needs. - Enhancing Inclusivity and Accessibility
Music Mark’s values align closely with our own as a SEND primary school. Their emphasis on equitable and inclusive music education helps us ensure that music is accessible to pupils with a wide range of learning, sensory, and communication needs. - Strengthened Community Partnerships
Through Music Mark, we are encouraged to develop connections with external music providers, visiting musicians, and local arts organisations—creating exciting opportunities for workshops, celebrations, and shared musical experiences. - Recognition and Celebration
Receiving the Music Mark certificate and logo allows us to proudly display our achievement across our website, newsletters, and school communications—recognising the importance of music in our pupils’ wellbeing, creativity, and self-expression. ]
